  13. THE STORY:

  16.  Necron's back in town and he wants revenge. Only you - in the guise of
  17. Hegor The Barbarian - Have the courage, strength, and stupidity to face
  18. the challenge:

  20.  Its time once again to don your dented helmet, tie your sweaty 
  21. breechcloth, sharpen your rusting sword and move your big feet in the
  22. direction of danger.

  24.  Forests, caves, dungeons, castles, and temples await your barbaric
  25. exploration, each is infested with deadly inhabitants and devious traps
  26. ready to terminate your lowbrow activities.

  39. Loading Instructions
  40. --------------------

  42. IMPORTANT:- Always switch your machine off for at least 30 seconds before
  43. loading the game. Failure to do so may result in virus contamination of the
  44. BARBARIAN II master disk. 
  45.  
  46.  
  47. AMIGA
  48.  
  49. Switch your computer on. Insert a kickstart disk if so prompted. When the 
  50. display prompts for a workbench disk insert Disk 1 of BARBARIAN II in your
  51. computers internal drive. Insert the other disks when prompted. Once loaded,
  52. Disk 2 may remain in your first drive and Disk 3 in your second, for the 
  53. duration of the game. 
  54. The Amiga version utilises extra memory should you have it.
  55. BARBARIAN II is played with a joystick plugged into the second joystick port
  56. and/or a mouse plugged into the first joystick port.

  61. Insert Disk 1 of BARBARIAN II. Switch on your monitor/tv, then your computer,
  62. insert other disks when prompted.

  66. LOADING TIPS
  67.  
  68. Should the title screen not appear within 45 seconds of turning on your 
  69. machine there maybe a problem with your computer system. Check your 
  70. computer connections and that the above instructions have been correctly
  71. carried out. If you are sure your computer is functioning properly (i.e.
  72. other sotware loads successfully) and are still unable to load 
  73. BARBARIAN II then you may have a faulty disk, in which case you may obtain
  74. a free replacement from PSYGNOSIS LTD. (Or a local Skid Row BBS)

  198. GRAPPLE AND HOOK:

  200. To Utilise your Grapple and Hook, Simply press your Fire Button 
  201. and Push you joystick up. Hegor will throw the Grapple up and
  202. (If a Suitable surface is within reach) climb the rope.
  203.  
  204. POTIONS:
  205. --------
  206. Potions - found or bought - will either enhance your currently 
  207. carried weapon strength or your own stamina. You'll soon
  208. discover which does what. Potions have no effect on bows,
  209. Crossbows or the Grapple and Hook.
  210.  
  211. KEYS:
  212. -----
  213. To pick up keys, simply walk Hegor over them.
  214. Locked doors should be no prblem to you if you're carrying the
  215. right type of key, simply push Up on your joystick to open them.
  216.  
  217. SAVING AND LOADING YOUR POSITION:
  218. ---------------------------------
  219. Barbarian II allows you to save your position at any point
  220. during play. To do this, merely press the "S" key and follow on-
  221. screen instructions.

  223. To load a saved position - again at any point during play - press
  224. the L key and follow on-screen instructions.
  225.  
  226. HEGORS'S HINTS:
  227. ---------------
  228.  
  229. Explore every nook and cranny of each domain, for years, for you will
  230. need to find all available keys.
  231.  
  232. If you can afford it, buy the helmet from your friendly
  233. Shopkeeper, it may save your life in an unexpected attack.
  234.  
  235. Each weapon has a different effect on your enemies, learn which
  236. is best to use against which foe.
  237.  
  238. Against the castle guards, the best defense is attack.
  239.  
  240. Buy gossip at every affordable opportunity, it might provied a
  241. vital clue!
  242.  
  243. Remember, you must be actually carrying a weapon for it to be
  244. enhanced by potions.
  245.  
  246. All enemies exept werewolves) defeated in the forest, leave
  247. their gold for you to pick up and spend.
  248.  
  249. Striking the thieving goblin will deter its return, Rolling into 
  250. him could prove benificial.
  251.  
  252. Keep and eye on your weapon strength, swords and axes will 
  253. break if it get too low.
